The Blueberry
Vaccinium myrtillus,
a dwarf bush in the heather (calluna) family of 20 to 30 centimeters (8 to 12 inches) in height. The branches are green and sharp edged; leaves are serrated and fall off in the fall. The flowers are green and white with a reddish tint. The blue, juicy berries are used in preserves and juice. Dried berries are used in medicine. Blueberries are found throughout the country in lowland forests and mountains as high as 1700 meters (5600 feet) above sea level. Norwegians cultivate American high-yield blueberry bushed, which were first offered for sale in Norway in 1954.
